His disappointment regarding the delay in the promotion and introduction of sex education in all school levels, says in a statement”Hope For Children” CRC Policy Center.
“The above attitude shows a lack of determination for an action which, firstly, is an obligation of the Republic of Cyprus under the ratified Lanzarote Convention for the protection of children from sexual abuse and exploitation and the National Action Plan 2021-2023 of the VOICE Council and secondly, it is a necessity at a time when the terrifying extent of the phenomenon is constantly being highlighted”, he adds.
He also states that it is worthy reporting that since the beginning of the Children's Home to date, more than 1500 cases of children have been referred for investigation of sexual abuse or exploitation.
He notes that a large number of reports of child sexual abuse reach the competent authorities from the school context, a fact that foretells that the inclusion of the relevant course would give children another way to report the abuse.< /p>
