Preliminary moves aimed at preventing a new shipwreck in the Cyprus issue are being made by the United Nations with a view to convening an informal Pentagon Conference. At this stage, the International Organization seeks to create conditions for the participants to reach a common text, if possible before the meeting.
This is the mission of the UN official, Jane Hall Luth, who is expected today in Cyprus and tomorrow will have separate meetings with President Anastasiadis and the occupation leader, Ersin Tatar. Ms. Luth will try to agree on the joint statement of the Conference, in order to avoid the possibility that those involved during the Pentagon will get lost in the και translation and lead to failure.
