Yesterday, in the sports insert “Stadium” of the newspaper “POLITI”, we revealed the letter of FIFPro to UEFA regarding the very high temperatures that the footballers will face in the games of the upcoming European games that will take place in Cyprus.
The letter of the World Footballers' Union referred to the opening hours of the match of AEL against Albanian Vlaznia (22/7) which was set at 17:30 and Omonia with Dinamo Zagreb (27/7) at 18:00.
Unsuitable hours based on the weather conditions prevailing on the island.
Today there was an information from UEFA for the approval to use Tsirio in the evening hours and so the AEL game will take place at 20:00, since from what seems to have been an exception – on the issue of lighting – after the request of the blue and yellows.
From there on, it is unknown at this time whether there will be any change in the start time of the rematch between Omonia and Dinamo. In this case, if anything will change, it is solely due to the high temperatures, since everything is covered in terms of the stadium, with the GSP meeting all the conditions.
