A donation of books on Japanese history and culture was offered by the Embassy of Japan to the library of the European University of Cyprus on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. The donation of books, an action that is part of the “Read Japan” program of the Nippon Foundation, took place as part of a visit by Japanese Ambassador, Mr. Yoshio Yamawaki, at the university.
The Read Japan Program is one of the Nippon Foundation's initiatives abroad. Through the donation of selected books to various universities and libraries, it seeks to promote the true image of Japan and its culture to readers worldwide.
The Ambassador and his entourage were welcomed by the Rector, Prof. Andreas Efstathiou, present and other members of the Academic and Administrative staff, at the premises of the European University of Cyprus. The Rector warmly thanked the Embassy for the donation of books and underlined the importance of this initiative, through which the University community is given the opportunity to study and understand in depth the culture, history and society of Japan.
Among other things, the said meeting was a pleasant occasion to discuss possible collaborations in the future and for the Ambassador to tour the Library, the Clinics, the laboratories and in general the facilities of the European University of Cyprus.< /p> < iframe width='300px' height='500px' src='https://www.adstorebluebird.cy/api/banner/ServeBanner?zoneId=2734' frameborder='0' scrolling='no'>
