With the purchase of medical equipment for the Cyprus Cancer Society, the Stelios Hatziioannou Charitable Foundation welcomed the new year as part of its annual contribution and assistance to charities active in the field of social welfare and support.
< p>The donation of the Stelios Hatziioannou Foundation supports the needs of the Home Nursing Service of the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association which is offered free of charge in all towns and villages of Cyprus. The service, following modern understandings of the beneficial effects of patients staying in a familiar space, supports cancer patients by providing them with comprehensive human-centered and accessible medical and nursing care, in their own environment.
Through the donation of the Stelios Hatziioannou Foundation, the Home Nursing Service was strengthened with quality and advanced medical equipment such as electronically adjustable beds, wheelchairs, swivel bathroom chairs, suction and oxygen machines, etc. This equipment is loaned to patients living in their own space with the aim of making their stay at home as comfortable as possible.
The Executive Director of the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association Mrs. Maria Ioannidou expressed her heartfelt thanks to the “Stelios Hatziioannou Charitable Foundation” commenting that the donation strengthens the Home Nursing Service of the Association which serves more than 3500 patients with cancer experience throughout Cyprus . Mrs. Ioannidou added that the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association offers, in addition to home medical and nursing care, it operates Arodafnousa in Nicosia and Evagorio in Limassol. At the same time, the Association provides comprehensive Palliative Care services that include psychological, social and spiritual support for both the patient and his relatives, physiotherapy, lymphedema management, aromatherapy as well as daily transport of patients from their cities to the oncology centers in Nicosia and Limassol. “As part of our charitable mission, we offer all our services free of charge to all our cancer patients, regardless of the patient's socio-economic status, origin or religion, which is why donations like those of the Stelios Hatziioannou Foundation make our work easier and enhance the care we provide to our patients”.
Sir Stelios Hatziyoannou, Founder and Chairman of the Stelios Hatziyoannou Charitable Foundation, said: “I am particularly pleased as this small donation becomes so important for the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association, while giving us the opportunity to contribute and help in the enormous work it is doing. I would like to wish them strength and assure that we will continue to stand by them, strengthening in every possible way the care they provide to cancer patients”.
