In the wake of strikes

In addition to the problems caused by the bad weather, from Tuesday until Friday around 40,000 members of the Rail, Maritime and Other Transport (RMT) union are going on strike demanding higher increases amid inflation at 11.1%.

The strike affects the routes of 14 major rail companies serving the whole of Britain. Only 20% of services are expected to run, with the last trains leaving at 6.30pm. RMT members have announced further strikes for December 24 to 27, as well as January 3, 4, 6 and 7.
