The British Base Police made 31 arrests in the area of Dhekelia since March for drug cases, thus declaring their commitment to continue the stand of intolerance. The cases involved nine people arrested for possession with intent to supply and found with large sums of money and 16 for driving under the influence of drugs. The other offenses were for possession.
The Assistant Director of the Police Directorate, Andreas Pitsillidis, revealed that the drugs discovered were “cannabis, cocaine and crystalline methamphetamine”.
The largest amount of drugs seized was half a kilo of class B cannabis police experts is worth about € 10,000.
Speaking this week as he awaits the confirmation of the dates for the presentation of district courts and pointing to an increase in drug arrests, Mr. Pitsillidis explained: “As we approach the summer season, we are seeing an increase in drug use and supply.
“As a police force, we take it very seriously, as drug use destroys lives. We are working very closely with our colleagues in the Drug Control Department of the KD to deal with this problem and those who are found to be involved in this criminal activity will be prosecuted according to the law. “
The arrests were made in the villages of Pyla , Xylofagou, Ormideia, Xylotympou and Achna.
