For the World Day against Homophobia, Amphobia and Transphobia, the Minister of Justice Stefi Drakou spoke, emphasizing that in modern societies there is no place for segregation based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
The Minister also noted that the protection and respect for human dignity and diversity are components of our democratic culture and we work daily to ensure them.
At the same time, he referred to the institutionalization of political coexistence and the criminalization of homophobic and transphobic rhetoric adopted by the government, as well as to the tightening of penalties for crimes committed with homophobic or transphobic motives, demonstrating any form of violence or discrimination against the LGBTI + community.
Recently, he said, a memorandum of cooperation was signed with the United Kingdom to protect and promote the rights of LGBTI + people in the workplace, bilaterally and at European level. .
In this context, the IDAHOT + Forum 2022 took place on 12-13 May, for the first time in Cyprus, together with the UK Government and in & nbsp; cooperation with the Council of Europe, & nbsp; which was attended by 250 people from European countries.
