€9.5 million in Oncology from the Pension Fund of the former Chartered Bank

A formal visit to the Oncology Center of the Bank of Cyprus was made by the CEO of the Bank of Cyprus, Panikos Nikolaou, who wished the staff a happy new year and thanked them for their service to cancer patients.

Welcoming Mr. Nikolaos the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Center, Christos M. Triantafyllidiss, once again thanked the Bank of Cyprus as well as the state for their constant support to the Oncology Center during its 25 years of operation. “It is a unique and successful partnership of the private and public sectors with total success for 25 years,” and addressing the staff he stressed: “This is because of you medical, paramedical, nursing and administrative staff.” “The Center”, underlined Mr. Triantafyllidis, “besides the treatment, it also speaks something, and that is hope”.

On the occasion of Mr. Nikolaou's visit, Mr. Triantafyllidis also expressed his gratitude to the Employees' Pension Fund of the former Chartered Bank, from which, through the Bank of Cyprus Medical Foundation, the sum of €9.5 million was offered. this amount was used to replace the Center's three Linear Accelerators with new, state-of-the-art accelerators.

For his part, Mr. Nikolaou expressed his gratitude for the work carried out by the Oncology Center

strong>, emphasizing that the Bank of Cyprus will continue to strengthen its evolution into an integrated cancer treatment center, with state-of-the-art medical technology equipment that will offer new diagnostic and therapeutic methods for cancer. He noted that from the time of the establishment of the Center until today, the Bank of Cyprus has contributed approximately 70 million euros and in 2023 the contribution was twice as much as in 2022. “We are committed”, he added, “to contribute increased funds for the coming years as well in order to enable the Center to implement its plans to expand its infrastructure”.

As part of Mr. Nikolaos' visit, the customary event of the staff of the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Center for the cutting of the king's pie took place.
