The National Betting Authority and the State Lottery, concluded a Memorandum of Cooperation for the next three years, with the aim of deepening cooperation between them for the benefit of society.
The Memorandum aims to strengthen the cooperation of the two organizations and the promotion of Safe Gaming, for the protection of vulnerable groups and the wider society.
In particular, it provides for cooperation between the two parties in the field of research and prevention of problematic and/or pathological gambling, as well as in matters of harmonization with European and international Gambling Rules. At the same time, it is planned to promote joint actions for the education and further training of gambling service providers in relation to Safe Gambling, as well as joint actions aimed at preventing problematic and/or pathological gambling, especially in with regard to minors and other vulnerable groups of the population.
EAS and the State Lottery, also agreed on the co-organization of scientific and other activities (eg conferences, workshops, events, etc.) on issues related to the pathological involvement in gambling, cooperation for the implementation of academic, educational, research programs, innovative initiatives and other actions, as well as the exchange of know-how and information material on safe gambling.
With the signing of the Memorandum, an Action Plan will be drawn up that will include specific actions and implementation schedules. p>
The President of the National Betting Authority, Mrs. Ioanna Fiakkou, stated in her statements that the cooperation with the State Lottery is part of the Strategic goal of the Authority for the protection of the public and the safeguarding of public health. “Synergies with public organizations and in particular those that contribute to the regulation of gambling in Cyprus are of paramount importance for the Authority. “Prevention is our most valuable ally in tackling the problematic and pathological gambling and in this direction we will act together with the State Lottery”, she underlined.
For her part, the Director of the State Lottery and General Accountant of the Republic, Mrs. Rea Georgiou stressed that “through this new cooperation, we look forward to strengthening our relationship with the National Betting Authority and through the two-way exchange of knowledge, experience and initiatives for action, to achieve ultimate goal, which is none other than the cultivation of the culture of safe gambling in our country “.
