Aim to raise public awareness of gambling
Aiming to inform and concern the public about safe gambling, as well as everything they can and must do to keep gambling enjoyable, healthy and safe. the National Betting Authority is organizing the Safe Game Week next October for the 6th consecutive year.
This year's Safe Gaming Week is held under the theme 'Enjoy the Game, Play Safely' and focuses on informing players and the public about ways they can keep their betting and gambling activities safe. As every year, the Week will start with the Safe Play Conference on October 9, while until October 15, when it ends, there will be multi-level actions such as presentations, educational seminars, experiential workshops and interactive games.
Through the actions that will be carried out as part of the Safe Game Week, EAS focuses on the one hand on reducing the harm caused by betting and gambling and on the other hand on informing the public about the self-protection tools that every player has at his disposal, about the dangers of problem gambling and gambling, the harmful effects they can have on society, but also in which ways one can seek help and treatment.
According to the Head of the Safe Game and Business Development Directorate of the National Betting Authority, Mrs. Christina Christoforou, the EAS effort is focused on raising awareness in society and at the same time involving and mobilizing all parties involved, with the aim of creating a protective environment which will prevent the development of a problematic relationship with betting and gambling in general. “Safe Play Week has now become an institution. Every year there is an increased participation of the public in the actions carried out within the framework of the Week, which makes us especially happy since the participants are informed about all the issues related to safe play and have the opportunity to discuss openly about everything that concerns them. The Week takes place as part of the Safer Gambling Strategy, which is based on the public health approach to gambling. Our goal is the development and sustainability of the betting sector, always having at the center of our actions the protection of society and players from the harmful consequences of engaging in betting and games of chance”.
It is worth noting that Matthew M. Young, Chief Research Officer of the Greo Evidence Insights organization, will participate in this year's Safe Play conference, which will open the curtain of the Safe Play Week, who will analyze the results of the second pan-Cypriot survey gaming prevalence, as well as other gaming experts and academics.
As part of the conference proceedings, presentations and round table discussions will take place on the following topics:
- gambling advertising and future trends,
- sustainability of the gambling sector games and the safe gaming practices of providers,
- the trends regarding the regulatory and regulatory framework to protect players and reduce harmful consequences
- The relationship of women and their degree of involvement with gambling and many other interests.
