The EDEK leadership is launching a series of contacts today with party members with the sole theme of the upcoming presidential elections.
The President of EDEK Marinos Sizopoulos stated from the Parliament that rallies will be held in all provinces and the circle will close with a Pancyprian rally on March 13 at the Conference Center in Pano Lefkara.
As he said, the purpose of the meetings is for the leadership of the members to listen, to give explanations and to make the necessary clarifications so that at the rally on March 13 the general directions will be given to the leadership of the party to take the appropriate actions that will determine the final EDEK's position in the Presidential Elections.
Asked if EDEK will have contacts with all parties, Mr. Sizopoulos clarified that there will be no contacts with ELAM, while from there on his party is open to discuss with any party that asks to have contact to exchange views.
What is in the priorities of EDEK, he added, is any cooperation that will be achieved to be done on the basis of specific criteria, and especially the dialogue to be equal and EDEK to be involved in this dialogue from the beginning, to determine the convergences and discrepancies on specific issues of government policy and then rationally its collective bodies parties with democracy and full transparency, to make the final decisions.
“There is no possibility that EDEK will subscribe to pre-determined decisions, either for candidates or for a government program, and simply come to ratify them,” he said.
