Ahead of the Pan-Cypriot Conference, the European Elections ballot and a large number of candidates for the Local Government elections are being validated today by the EDEK. The Pan-Cypriot Conference has been underway since 10 am to signal the start of the pre-election campaign, in view of the double election contest next June.
Present at the Conference are the six candidates who were qualified by Politiko Party office after evaluating a list of 15 names forwarded by the Political Secretariat. These are the MPs Andreas Apostolou and Ilias Myrianthous, the mayor of Polemidion Nikos Anastasiou, the philologist Pantelitsa Yokka, the journalist Vivian Kanaris and the general director of PASYKAF Nikolas Filippou.
In the context of today's Pan-Cyprus Conference all the persons announced by EDEK so far for the positions of mayors, vice-mayors and presidents of the Provincial Self-Governing Organizations are also expected to be ratified and those who come from the ranks of the party are expected to attend. The party's ballot papers for Municipal Councils and School Ephorates will also be validated.
