EDEK announcement on Turkey's participation in the EU Foreign Affairs Council
At the very least, it was necessary to ensure the removal of Turkey's veto on Cyprus' participation in EU-NATO actions, before the consent to invite Turkey to the Council Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the EU, EDEK states in its announcement.

The government's decision to agree to send an invitation to Turkey to participate in the informal Council of Foreign Ministers of the European Union is a wrong strategic and tactical move for EDEK, as no goodwill gesture from Turkey has been secured in return and in no level.
A country, like Turkey, which:
Continuously violates international law in Cyprus for fifty years
Does not take any action, even elementary, in Cyprus
Demonstrates strong provocation towards the Republic of Cyprus both verbally and on the ground, such as in the dead zone and EEZ of the Republic
Threatens and proceeds with the illegal settlement of Famagusta
He has not complied with any Cypriot obligation at the level of the European Union
it cannot have the opportunity to benefit from its participation in a higher body of the European Union and even with the consent of the Republic of Cyprus.
Let us recall that Turkey, where it has the possibility, such as joint EU-NATO activities, vetoes the participation of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Cyprus, depriving the Republic of Cyprus of access to classified information and expertise.
The decision of the government, it would be correct, it would be counterproductive and useful, if it were expressly and officially guaranteed that Turkey would not veto the participation of the Republic of Cyprus in the joint EU-NATO activities.
The policy of providing incentives in Turkey, without prior assurance of exchanges, it has never brought results.
