To solve the problems faced by pensioners

Specifically, as it states in its announcement, EKYSY is planning, on the occasion of October 1, world day for the elderly, provincial conferences in all cities to assess the progress made in solving the problems of pensioners and accordingly will decisions should be made, not excluding the mobilization of pensioners in their attempt to exert further pressure on the government.
It is added that EKYSY has already held regional meetings in Paphos, in the free area of Famagusta, in Pyrgos Tellyrias and in Larnaca, which dealt with the serious problems of the elderly.
It is noted that in all the meetings the pensioners criticized the “refusal of the new Government to respond, so far, and resolve their chronic problems”.
It is also reported that the regional meeting of the pensioners of Larnaca was held on Tuesday July 25 at the House of People's Organizations in Pervolia and concerned officials of the province of Larnaca and Famagusta.
It is added that the session was presided over by Andri Antoniou, Local Secretary of the Pervolia E.KY.SY and the main speaker was the E.KY.SY General Secretary Kostas Skarparis, who informed the executives of the Organization about the steps taken to solve the problems of pensioners. It is noted that a review of the organizational action of the Organization to date was made by the E.G. of EKYSY Larnaca-Ammochosto Giorgos Sotiriou.
According to the announcement, the pensioners complained that unfortunately the current government also turns a deaf ear to the voices of despair of the elderly, who face a serious problem of living due to punctuality.
Also, the announcement continues, they denounced the mockery they are being subjected to for allegedly increasing low pensions and demanded the abolition of the punitive 12% penalty on the pensions of those who retire at the age of 63.
Finally, it states that the meeting ended with a symbolic demonstration of protest against punctuality, while the Local Organizations of Pervolia, Kiti, Kiti, Dromolaxia, Athienou, Oroklini and Oroklini were present at the gathering.
