EKYSY is asking for an increase in support for pensioners, with its General Secretary Kostas Skarparis stressing that the Government owes too much to pensioners, especially in this period when punctuality hits the elderly mercilessly.
In a written statement, Kostas Skarparis notes that EKYSY believes that in a period when accuracy continues to be at an all-time high and pensioners do not have the possibility to take even a few days of vacation at their own expense, the state should come to the rescue and to support them with the plan that exists and has been operating since 2009, with a doubling of the fund, however, at least.
Mr. Skarparis reminds that the EKYSY sent a letter to the Minister of Labor from April in which he suggested an improvement of the criteria and an increase of the relevant amount available in order to increase the number of beneficiaries, but there has been no response to date.
“We note that more than 50% of the applications that have been submitted have been rejected and the interested parties are waiting in vain for a phone call for their approval”, he says.
The pensioners and EKYSY do not forget that “the Government recently gave 45 million euros to all companies without exception” he says, while, as he adds, “it gives crumbs to the elderly targeted only at low pensioners such as e.g. allowance of 50 euros only for 3 months, which he suspended from July, wanting to tell us that the accuracy has decreased”. they make do with their low pensions which have been eroded by inflation, explaining that “their very big problem this period is the increased EAC bills which the low pensioners are unable to pay”.
“It is necessary the Government should support the pensioners and the EAC during this period not to interrupt the supply of electricity to pensioners who will not be able to pay them off”, he concludes.
