Last week, 11 children's products that fall under the authority of the Service were detected in the markets of various EU member states and subsequently notified to the Safety Gate RAPEX System, one of which was in the Cypriot market, according to the Consumer Protection Service (CPS).

As stated in an announcement by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the product, which was found on the Cypriot market, seized and withdrawn, is an educational toy in the form of a Mega Creative dinosaur, model INDEX 471110, with barcode 5908275167075 and country of manufacture China. Contains a choking hazard from possible ingestion of small pieces detached from the toy.

As reported by the GTP,  according to the Ministry of Health, the remaining products, described in the table  here, are likely to be on the Cyprus market and directly threaten the health and safety of consumers and especially children.

The The Consumer Protection Service further states that it has begun intensive market checks for any detection of the products and calls on importers, distributors, sellers who may have such products to immediately stop making them available and notify the Service.

The Consumer Protection Service also calls on consumers in case they own the above products to stop using them and return them to the seller, i.e. from the store from which they purchased them, and at the same time to inform it about this.

It is also noted that according to the Consumer Protection Law of 2021, in case of purchasing an unsafe product, the consumer is entitled to a replacement of the product, so that the product is in accordance with the terms of the sales contract. If this is not possible, then the consumer has the right to withdraw, i.e. return the product to the seller and receive back the full amount paid. It is recalled that the above rights are valid for a period of 2 years from the initial delivery of the product to the consumer and that the final seller always has the sole responsibility towards the consumer.

In the event that the seller refuses to respond to the above above rights of the consumer, the consumer is invited to submit his complaint in writing through the website of the Consumer Protection Service (www.consumer.gov.cy), states the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which lists the same phrase and telephone numbers for filing a complaint:&nbsp ;Consumer Line 1429, Nicosia Head Offices 22200926/22200925/22200923, Limassol District Office 25819150, Paphos District Office 26804613, Larka/Ammoxos District Office 24816
