With a written message read by the Archbishop of Thyatira and Great Britain Nikitas, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew "greeted" the enthronement of the new primate of the Cypriot Orthodox Church, calling him to give himself to the church, "in the common struggle for the protection of the faith in the present age".
Addressing the new Archbishop of Cyprus as "much-loved and precious brother and co-worker", the Ecumenical Patriarch pointed out in his message that he receives "with deep emotion and righteous joy" the appointment of the new Archbishop of Cyprus.
In his message, the Ecumenical Patriarch refers "with deep emotion" to the former Archbishop Chrysostomos, emphasizing that he "fell on earth, to bear much fruit in the Kingdom of God".
According to the Ecumenical Patriarch, the new Archbishop is called to continue the work of Chrysostom "as Primate now, bearer of the victory of the Resurrection, giving birth and teaching Christ in the hearts of the clergy and the people.
“You are taking over the Primate of one of the most historic Churches in the world, for which the Church of Constantinople fought with love, protected and supported, as it will continue to do,” states the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in his message, who addressing the new Archbishop adds that "you too are called to be bearers of this Tradition, proven, not only with words, but also with deeds and actions, as a healer of the ecclesiologically correct opinion of the Orthodox Church, to give yourself to the Church, to the public fight for the protection of the faith in the present age, as it is shaken, not so much because of different dogmatic beliefs, but because of the "new dogma" of the nation and the innovative ecclesiology of the sect of ethno-tribalism”.
He then notes that "our fight is persistent and serious, as those who have worldly interests in such an alteration project our movements as allegedly unorthodox and deceive faithful Christians in a completely slanderous and unjust manner".
"But you and we don't do that. We found again your generous church ethos. We have the hope, or rather the certainty, that in your person we have found a warm accomplice,' he says.
« From the Holy Patriarchal Church of the Holy Great Martyr George the Trophy Bearer, our heavenly patron, accepting unconditionally the divinely inspired, by normal votes, your election for which we warmly congratulate you, and we write your name in the Diptychs of our Eastern Orthodox Church as Archbishop of Nea Justiniana and all Cyprus and we fraternally seize your face and invoke Wisdom, Peace and Strength in your Pre-hierarchical course that begins», concludes.
