Energy upgrade plan for households amounting to € 30 million announced by the Ministry of Energy

Next Tuesday, March 9, the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry will announce a plan for the energy upgrade of households, amounting to € 30 million.

As the Minister of Energy Natasa Pileidou stated in KYPE, the plan is particularly important in terms of achieving the goals of Cyprus for green development and green energy.

He also said that it is very important that this year a project of 30 million euros will be announced, which is much higher than in previous years, while this year the process is automated, which will facilitate applicants, and the evaluation process will be much faster. He also mentioned that the methodology is much simpler and based on this, the audit that was done in previous announcements will not be done.

“We hope that there will be interest, that people will embrace this project and that we will be able to allocate all the funds so that buildings in need of energy upgrades can be upgraded and we can all embrace the idea of renovating old buildings and “not only the construction of new ones,” he said.

The Minister also said that for the first time the possibility of installing energy storage systems is included, something that allows even more energy savings as well as smart energy management of a home.

He added that plans for public buildings and businesses will follow. The project is co-financed by European funds.
