Receipts and names for 24 companies that are allegedly usurping Greek Cypriot properties in the occupied territories, the Environmental Citizens Cooperation movement revealed.
In a press conference given by the vice-president of the movement Kyriakos Tsimillis and the President of the Cypriot Union, Oz Karahan, the legal framework for combating usurpation was presented while details were also given of some of the biggest alleged usurpers of properties in the occupied territories.
< p> The Lewis Trust Group stands out from the list, which had taken over the illegal development of Marina in Gialousa and recently left, transferring it to the Arkin Group.
The Arkin Group is considered one of the largest illegal development companies in the occupied territories. The illegal deployments of the family of Erhan Arikli, the so-called Minister of Transport and one of the suspects in the murder of Tasos Isaac against whom an international arrest warrant is pending, also stand out.
The President of the Union of Cypriots Oz Karahan stated that "it is worth asking why the Government of the Republic of Cyprus for so many years indirectly subsidizes tourist businesses in the occupied territories which, in the vast majority, belong to settlers or agents of the pseudo-government".
The company Fagausta also stands out. Construction by Jaffer Gourchafer, the so-called President of the Illegal Construction Association of Contractors.
It is recalled that Gürchafer was in Court in support of Simon Mistriel Aykut who is accused of usurping property in the occupied territories.
He is also accused in the occupied territories of financial crimes and falsification of documents.
In the list presented by the environmentalists there are also companies with offices in Germany that advertise illegal developments for sale to European buyers and not only.
The vice-president of the Environmentalists Kyriakos Tsimillis said that «the Government should proceed with the full implementation of the policy against the usurpation of Greek Cypriot properties. Clear position of the Government that trust is not built by tolerance of such a crime, which is described as a criminal offense. Activation of the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Cyprus to highlight in the respective countries the legal and ethical aspect of the matter with the aim of discouraging their nationals from getting involved in the purchase of occupied properties.
As stated by the President of the Union of Cypriots Oz Karahan the measures taken and the three arrests for usurpation have significantly affected the sector of illegal developments in the occupied territories.
