“Unfortunately, the Government insists on driving the Audit Service”
Yesterday's decisions of the Council of Ministers prove the obsession of the Christodoulidis government with the Audit Service, reports the Environmentalists Movement – Citizens' Cooperation.
“Unfortunately, the government insists on the creation of an internal audit committee of the Audit Service. The creation of an Audit Council aims to put the Audit Service under political control by appointing the three representatives of the respective president to the so-called Audit Council. Unfortunately, – bearing in mind the general attitude of the parties towards the Independent Audit Service – we are seriously worried about the future“.
It seems, as he notes, that the government is using as a plan b the creation of the so-called Audit Council in order to limit the independence of the Audit Service, if the plan to impeach the means of the Supreme Judicial Council does not succeed.
