Epic, as part of its strategy to make a practical contribution to reversing climate change and creating a more sustainable world for future generations, proceeded to clean Mackenzie Beach in Larnaca, on the occasion of the “European Day for the Sea” which is celebrated every year on May 20.
In collaboration with the Non-Profit Organization AKTI, more than 30 company executives put on their gloves and collected a significant amount of trash from the beach, putting their own little stone in the efforts that are done to protect marine life and its ecosystem.
Beaches serve as a bridge between land and sea, which makes them vulnerable to the accumulation of litter and pollutants from human activities. Epic, as a leading organization, recognizes the importance of cleaning beaches from plastics, cigarette butts, fishing nets and other litter that pose serious threats to marine life, and encourages regular cleanups to keep beaches clean and foster environmental stewardship. of consciousness.
Epic's staff are used to leaving their offices and participating en masse in actions related to environmental protection. Recently, volunteers from all departments of the company in collaboration with the Department of Forestry and the Cyprus Philanthropic Association, participated en masse in tree planting in a degraded area of Ayia Napa. Their purpose, their own contribution to the reforestation of the area and the creation of a new small forest that will significantly improve biodiversity, protect adjacent human activities, and beautify the area.
At the same time, Epic has included Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) in all its activities – in its internal processes, in its products, in its services – as Sustainable Development is part of the everyday life of every modern and competitive business.
An important pillar of its ESG actions is the adoption of hybrid systems for powering the Mobile Telephony Base Stations it has, with the aim of reducing fuel and promoting renewable energy sources. The hybrid system used by Epic combines the technology of using renewable energy sources (photovoltaic systems) with the technology of energy storage (state-of-the-art battery system). Epic's investment in renewable energy sources, which power Mobile Phone Base Stations, has achieved a reduction in emissions of more than 70%, with the company's long-term goal of weaning itself off the use of oil and replacing it with green energy .
