The two contenders for the presidency of the Republic Andreas Mavroyiannis state their positions on a series of labor issues raised by the trade union Equality and Nikos Christodoulidis.

In his answer, Andreas Mavroyiannis says “yes” and adds that his position is the “full performance of ATA and its extension through social dialogue, to all workers, with priority to the low-paid” .

For his part, Nikos Christodoulidis notes that “ATA will not be abolished”, adding that “the social dialogue with the social partners will continue in order to reach an agreement between all parties within the framework of the state's fiscal capabilities and of the economy”.

On the question of Equality, whether the two presidential candidates intend to take all the necessary actions to equalize the employment conditions of fixed-term and indefinite-term employees (EEA & EAC) with the corresponding conditions of permanent staff and to remove all discrimination against of the EEA and the EAC, Mr. Mavroyiannis replied by noting “yes, within the framework of legality”.

Mr. Christodoulidis stated in his own answer that he recognizes “the negative effects on the proper functioning of the public administration and on the employees themselves from the differentiation of the employment status of employees who perform the same or similar or equal duties” and adds: “And we have the intention to manage it effectively within the first months of governance, so that discrimination is effectively removed, through the dialogue with the social partners, in the context of the economic possibilities of the state and in accordance with the guidance of the Legal Service”.

< p>Furthermore, to the question of whether they intend to take all the necessary actions for the permanence of Permanent Employees, in the way that the union has suggested, that is, their transfer and by amending the Constitution if deemed necessary, Mr. Mavroyiannis answered in the affirmative, clarifying “in the appropriate legal manner”.

In his own response, Mr. Christodoulidis notes that he understands the necessity of definitively solving the long-standing problem of the EAC labor regime “And we have the intention, according to the plan for the first months of the government, to act to solve it through a dialogue with the social partners, in the context of the economic possibilities of the state and in accordance with the guidance of the Legal Service”.
