Clados sent a letter to the President of the Republic
As mentioned in the letter, the Minister of Justice has characterized “thousands of Police, by constantly pointing out and placing a specific Guild, as a group and not institutionalized”.
In a letter sent on Holy Monday to the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulidis, the Police Force Branch of the All-Cypriot Syndicate “Equality” accuses the Minister of Justice of discrediting the legislation on trade unions in the Security Forces.
As mentioned in the letter signed by the president of the guild, Nikos Loizidis, in her statements to the Mass Media, the Minister of Justice has characterized “thousands of Police, by constantly pointing out and placing a specific Guild, as a 'group and not institutionalized'”.< /p>
“We never expected this kind of behavior from a representative of your own Government. The Law “On Trade Unionism” in the Security Forces is clear”, continues Mr. Loizidis, adding that if there are other motives and reasons to hide the problems and gaps in the Police, they will not find them accomplices. “They will cooperate with the 'timeless guilds' and terms under their own interpretation of 'Institution,'” he adds.
“Such public positions, dictatorial behaviors, but also attempt to cover up problems in the Police will put you, as President, in a difficult position without the possibility of reversing situations”, emphasizes Mr. Loizidis, adding that “the Members of the Security Forces are offended by the empathetic behavior of the Minister of Justice towards them and the mentality of the “Trade Union Junta” that owns it”.
“The Laws of the Republic of Cyprus and Trade Unionism are not canceled or altered by anyone. The Law is above all. The silencing of trade union voices only happens in third world countries under a dictatorship regime”, the announcement concludes.
