Anyone who thinks we will be limited to our borders is ignorant, says Erdogan – What he said to graduates of military schools
Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke about geopolitical goals and interests that go far beyond the borders of Turkey, even warning that, when “necessary”, Ankara “will intervene accordingly”.
His statements were made in the context of his speech to graduates of military schools on the occasion of the black anniversary Asia Minor disaster.
“If we ignore the developments in our region and the geography of our hearts, then we will be fooling ourselves. Where we have an expatriate from the Adriatic to the steppes of Asia, then his case is our case. From the Caucasus to Africa, where we have a brother, his dirt is our dirt,” he said.
And he added the following:
“Just as with Azerbaijan we are united by the principle of “two states and one nation'', so we have the same pulse with our brothers in the Turkish-speaking countries. How can we turn our backs on Jerusalem? How can we keep our eyes closed for Palestine where Mustafa Kemal had fought so that the enemy's womb would not enter there? How can we close our ears to the cries of our Palestinian brothers against whom Israel has been committing genocide for 11 months? asked the Turkish president.
“Whoever tries to limit the horizon of Turkey to 782 thousand square kilometers, then he is definitely a stranger to these lands. We didn't allow them to imprison us in the shallows, we didn't pay attention to them… we won't let them. We will think with a focus on Turkey, but our vision will include the whole world”.
