“You are clearly in favor of the PKK,” Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan told the United States, accusing them directly but clearly of being responsible for the deaths of 13 Turkish citizens in northern Iraq.
Speaking at his party's special provincial congress in Rizuda, the Turkish president said the US said it was not with the PKK but “clearly you are by their side, you support them”. He added that “unfortunately, we saw this from the beginning”.
They brought, he said, “thousands of trucks of armor to northern Iraq and handed them over to terrorists.” Our security forces fought there with these terrorists. There is no more looting there. If we are with you in NATO, if we continue to be with you in NATO you will be honest with us. You will not support the terrorists. “If you support someone, you will support us.” Addressing US President Joe Biden, he said: “Mr. Biden, please find out who they are, but at the same time do not forget who the FETOs are.”
Meanwhile, US Ambassador to Ankara David Michael was summoned by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, which reacted strongly to the State Department's statement on northern Iraq.
