Eriksson: A Swedish “multitool”… for Omonia!

Must read

The who is who of the footballer rumored to be interested in the shamrock

Eρικσον: Eνα Σουηδικ«πολ&upsilon ;εργαλεο»… για την Ομoνοια!

They are talking about the interest of Omonia, and specifically its sports director, Jesper Jansson, in the person of Magnus Eriksson of Jugardens. So far, nothing is leaking from the “green” side, however it is interesting to see the profile of this particular player in more detail.

So this is a midfielder, who in the past has played in all the positions of the center as well as the attack! According to “transfermarkt” he played 113 times as a box to box, 81 as a right midfielder or winger, 58 as an attacking midfielder, 48 at the top of the attack, 14 as a second striker, nine as a left midfielder and just once as a “cutter”.< /p>

The “multi-tool”, as he could be described, started his career with AIK (now Berg and Pitta's team), however, before making his debut with the first team, he left for AFC Eskilstuna, a second team category in Sweden. With this club he made his professional debut and, coming from good performances, in 2009 he moved to Åtvidabergs FF, which competed in the same division.

His career continued to rise and in 2012 he was announced by Ghent for 500,000 euros! In the Belgians he could not establish himself, counting only five participations and therefore he returned to his homeland half a year later on behalf of Malmö. There his career took off, as in two years he scored 86 appearances, 21 goals and 29 assists. Among other things, he starred in the conquest of two championships and a qualification for the Champions League groups.

His next stop is the Chinese GZ Renhe, who bought him in January 2015 for 1,700,000 euros. He only stayed at the Asian club for half a year, because after eight appearances Brodby bought him for 850,000 euros. In his one year of presence in the Danes, he recorded 30 appearances, two goals and the same number of assists, facing among others Omonia in the Europa League qualifiers. It is worth mentioning that his coach was the “boss” of the English Brentford, Thomas Frank.

A year later… he moved again, as in the summer of 2016 Juggardens paid €400,000 for him. He did admirably for his country's team, winning the top scorer award for the 2017-2018 season with 14 goals, among other things. In fact, in the same year they also won the cup.

In the winter of 2018, he was supposed to get another transfer, with San Jose of the MLS buying him for 1,200,000 euros! In the USA. he stayed for two years recording a total of 74 appearances, 17 goals and 11 assists, to return in 2020 to Juggardens with whom he is committed until December 2025. Essentially we are talking about the team with which he has been linked the most, as the Stockholm club counts a total of 170 appearances, 32 goals and 42 assists.

Ericsson is well-travelled and multi-tooled, who at 33 years old has valuable experiences and performances. It is also important that it does not come from an injury and it remains to be seen if Omonoia will indeed initiate the procedures to acquire him.
