The Larnaca Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAP) and the company Kition Ocean Holdings are coordinating for the project of the unified development of the port and marina of the city and in a meeting, which took place today, in the presence of the Mayor, the 4 phases of the project were explained.
A written announcement of the Larnaca Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAP) states that “in view of the imminent start of work on the large development of the port – Larnaca marina from April 1, the date on which the Consortium now officially takes over the management of the project, today, Monday, February 7, meeting of the Board of Directors of ETAP Larnaca with Kition Ocean Holdings. It is added that “during the meeting, the main aspects of the project were presented with a focus on the main tourist part, in order to start the necessary coordination of the two parties. During the presentation, the 4 phases of the project and the relevant schedules were explained in detail, while the models and the respective plans were displayed “.
Regarding the first phase of the project, which will be completed in a period of five years, “it will start with the maintenance and restoration of the historic pier and will continue with the creation of basic infrastructure projects such as the construction of a new road that will connect Finikoudes with the port roundabout, new port dock, yacht club building, new passenger terminal hall, administration building, increase the marina capacity to 650 boats by creating a new breakwater and creating a luxury 5-star hotel, while in phase C the creation of another 4-star hotel “.
It is noted that “the new port will be able, in a reasonable time, to attract a new generation of cruise ships and to achieve this goal, Kition Ocean Holdings and ETAP Larnaca will be coordinated to take appropriate action. The marina will be able to accommodate boats from 10 to 130 meters while there will be a specially arranged area for their repair “.
The CEO of Kition Ocean Holdings Panos Alexandrou stated that “this development is the largest, most multidimensional and most expensive (amounting to € 1.2 billion) coastal project that will ever be done in our country, gaining a leading position not only in Cyprus , but also in the wider Mediterranean region “.
