The Committee on Ethics and Protection of Sports announces that, it has decided that, ex officio, it conducts control and examination of the way, football and basketball referees, perform their duties.
This issue has already been addressed in several Commission Sessions since March 2021, and after studying specific referees in detail, both in football and basketball, the Commission considered that there was a possibility that these referees would fall within the framework. of its responsibilities.
The Commission at the appropriate time and in the event that there is an issue, will seek the cooperation and assistance of both the Attorney General of the Republic of Cyprus and the Police.
This Communication is issued for information purposes regarding the Commission 's intentions, but due to the fact that its actions are covered by complete confidentiality, new Communications will be issued whenever the Commission deems it necessary.
