Pilakouta Group gold sponsor of Race for the Cure Cyprus
Pilakouta Group, with a strong sense of social responsibility, supports for the 3rd consecutive year the Race for the Cure Cyprus, of Europa Donna Cyprus, the largest sports event held on women's health in Europe.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility actions and support against breast cancer, the Pilakouta Group stands for another year alongside Europa Donna Cyprus, as the gold sponsor of the Race for the Cure Cyprus. The aim of this action is to inform and raise public awareness about breast cancer.
In a press conference held in Char. Pilakoutas Heritage in Nicosia, on Friday November 3rd, it was announced that this year's Race For the Cure would be held in Cyprus, with the Pilakoutas Group as the gold sponsor.
In her greeting, Mrs. Clelia Pilakouta Christoforou, Head of Business Development of the Pilakouta Group, stated that for 8 years the Group has been at the side of Europa Donna Cyprus, strengthening its very important work. As he said, “by supporting actions such as the Race for Cure Cyprus, we strengthen our collective commitment to a better tomorrow, in every aspect”. Ms. Pilakouta emphasized that, “we are moving forward together with Europa Donna Cyprus and we support an accessible, comprehensive support and treatment for those of our fellow human beings who are tested by this disease. At the same time, we seek to promote a culture of awareness that empowers individuals to take responsibility for their own health.”
In her statements, Ms. Mary Perdiou, President of the Board of Directors. of Europa Donna Cyprus, referred to the story behind the creation of the Race for the Cure, inviting people to participate in this premier awareness event. He added that, “The participation of the world is the strength for our Association, for access, information and implementation of prevention and early diagnosis, for the implementation of treatments, accessible for free to all patients, for ensuring the quality of life and the elimination of discrimination against cancer patients”.
As mentioned by the Executive Director of Europa Donna Cyprus, Mr. Marios Charalambidis, the Race for the Cure Cyprus is one of the Organization's leading organized actions, which has the Pilakoutas Group as a co-traveller for the 3rd consecutive year, thanking the Group warmly for such an important and timeless support to Europa Donna Cyprus, supporting in practice the women who need it.
Mr. Charalambidis, among other things, emphasized the importance of exercise as one of the main means of primary cancer prevention, while he also referred to the multiple messages of support and hope sent through this action. Special mention was made of the fact that beyond the main goal of informing and raising public awareness of breast cancer, this action contributes significantly to the effort for more effective treatment of the disease, both through mobilizing the world on the issue of early diagnosis and through of the fact that part of the proceeds from the event in each country goes to research for a cure for breast cancer. In closing, Mr. Charalambidis warmly thanked both the other sponsors and supporters of the sporting event as well as the excellent and tireless team of Europa Donna Cyprus for the continuous, great and substantial effort they make to implement the Organization's multifaceted work.
Race for the Cure, Europe's largest sporting event for breast cancer awareness, a celebration of courage, hope, strength and life, is organized in 150 cities and its total participation exceeds 1 million worldwide .
In Cyprus, the Race for the Cure is organized by Europa Donna Cyprus for the 3rd consecutive year. This year, this sporting event will be held on Sunday, November 12, under the auspices of the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Mrs. Athena Michaelidou, starting from the Sports Center of the University of Cyprus.
