The proportion of medical and dental graduates per 100 thousand inhabitants in Cyprus who graduated in 2022, close to the average of EU member states

Close to the average of the EU member states was the proportiongraduates of doctors and dentists per 100 thousand residents in Cyprus who graduated in 2022, according to data released Eurostat, the statistical agency of the EU.
A total of 69,279 doctors graduated in the EU in 2022, a number corresponding to 15.5 graduates doctors for every 100 thousand inhabitants(a slight decrease compared to the 2021 ratio of 15.7 medical graduates per 100 thousand inhabitants).
In Cyprus, the ratio in 2022 stood at 15.1 graduates doctors per 100 thousand people, a ratio that is a significant increase compared to 2021 when it was 11.0 per 100 thousand.
The highest ratios of doctors per 100 thousand inhabitants among the member states in 2022 were recorded in Bulgaria (29.5 per 100 thousand), in Malta (27.7) and Latvia (27.5).
Slovenia had the lowest share with 11.4 per 100 thousand, almost one third of Bulgaria's rate. Slovenia was followed by Estonia (12.2) and Germany (12.4).
As for dentists, in 2022 in the EU a total of 14,313 people graduated with this specialty. The number corresponds to 3.2 dental graduates per 100 thousand inhabitants (a slight increase from 3.1 in 2021).
In Cyprus, the ratio of dental graduates stood at 3.6 persons per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in 2021 there were zero dentist graduations.
Among all Member States, the highest ratio in 2022 was recorded in Romania with 9.9 per 100 thousand inhabitants, ahead of Portugal (9.1) and Bulgaria (7.8).
Malta (less than 0.1), Italy (1.4) and the Netherlands (1.5) recorded the lowest ratio of dental graduates per 100 thousand inhabitants in the same period.
