Evdokia Georgiou represents our country at the Danish Glass Biennale

Evdokia Georgiou represents our country in the artistic event, European Glass Context 2021 in Bornholm, Denmark.

The artist who creates a new reality through everyday objects, which she turns into sculptures, is now exhibiting at the Bornholm Biennials for Contemporary European Glass and Ceramics in Denmark!

The artist is a Fine Arts graduate from the University of Kent in England in 2015 and was nominated for the CVAN Platform Graduate Award of the same year. He has exhibited in over 25 group exhibitions in Cyprus and abroad, such as in Greece, England, Italy, Spain, Hungary, America and now in Denmark. He has again represented Cyprus at the Rome Art Week in 2019.

When Eudokia arrived in Bornholm, Denmark, she presented her work and artwork to the public at The Royal Danish Academy. The work he presents at European Glass Context 2021 is 'Twisted Reality' which is a sculpture in the form of a smokehouse, made of liquid glass, egg and acrylic paint. This work is one of the pieces presented in the category for the purposes of the United Nations (United Nations) which is one of the topics of the exhibition.

Through her work 'Twisted Reality', the artist aims to cover the transparency of the glass sculpture she has created to form a sense of deception in the dialogue between the work and the audience. In addition, the artist closes an egg inside the sculpture – smokehouse, which has various symbolisms. The egg is presented as a correlation of the uterus, genesis and life in order to show that people carry key features of their identity, even before they are born, from the womb to society and the state and vice versa.

It aims to show how one, by distorting truth, identity and form, can create false messages that deviate from the true essence of the things around us. That is why he has chosen an object such as the religious, authentic smokehouse that aims to purify the space as opposed to its usual use and to distort in form, use and consequently identity.

Influenced by the timeless Allegory of Plato of the cave, the artist has used this transformation of the household object into a sculpture in an anomalous form, material and identity as a reference to the media and the representations of society that sometimes does not hesitate to distort reality.

People are encouraged to look beyond the surface and the obvious. In this way, the artist aims to invite people to rethink, not only household items as objects, but as beings, but also how they relate to what happens through everyday social issues, systems and behaviors.

The exhibition will last until the end of November.
