“Everything is ready” – The ship Jennifer leaves for Gaza within the day

After noon on Saturday, the ship Jennifer is expected to leave for Gaza from the port of Larnaca, carrying 500 tons of humanitarian aid.

As Deputy Government Spokesman Yannis Antoniou told KYPE, “everything is ready for the ship Jennifer, which has been in the port of Larnaca for days, loaded with 500 tons of humanitarian aid, to leave for Gaza after noon”.

“Weather conditions have improved and seem to allow the ship to sail and if everything goes smoothly, it is expected to depart today shortly after noon,” he added.

Responding to a related question, Mr. Antoniou said that “the cargo has already been checked by the competent authorities of the Republic, while the necessary inspections were carried out by the Israelis. In general, the inspections were carried out within the framework of the agreement reached with all parties involved”.

The Deputy Government Spokesperson also stated that “the Republic of Cyprus will proceed with the full development of the Amalthia project”.


Regarding the visit of the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsolas to Cyprus, Mr. Antoniou said that he will arrive on Monday evening, he will have a meeting with the President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulidis and a working dinner will follow.

He added that “at noon on Tuesday, April 2, Ms. Metsolas will visit with the President of the Republic the port of Larnaca, where he will be informed about the “Amalthea” project which is supported by the European Institutions. He will then visit the “Zino” Coordination Center where he will be guided and see the “Amalthia” operation, how all the processes are done and the involvement of the various states, organizations” he concluded.
