    The undivided support of the House of Representatives to strong>children who are suffering from cancer and their families, expressed the President of the body Annita Dimitriou tonight celebrating the opening of the exhibition “With a golden ribbon”, in the atrium of the Parliament.

    The exhibition consists of works by children treated at the pediatric oncology clinic of the Makarios Hospital and will be hosted in the Parliament until February 29. to the children suffering from cancer and their families with various actions, always with the aim of our children having a quality of life, contributing positively to their healthy psychosomatic state”, said Mrs. Dimitriou.

    “Empowering these children to engage in activities that can weave a colorful web in their souls, giving new life and opening a new window, is an imperative pursuit by all parties involved,” he added.

    The President of the Parliament said that today is a “day filled with feelings of gratitude and hope for tomorrow”.

    “The gold ribbon, a material that was used and stands out both in the constructions and in the designs of the children and their parents, symbolizes awareness against childhood cancer. Today was chosen symbolically, as it has been established, at the initiative of the International Association of Parents of Children with Cancer, as the World Day against Childhood Cancer, with the aim of informing about childhood neoplasms and raising the awareness of the wider society about the needs of children suffering from cancer all over the planet”, she said.

    Ms. Dimitriou added that in the context of the information, it should be mentioned that approximately 50% of childhood cancer cases occur from infancy to the age of four.

    “More than 80% of childhood cancers are curable if diagnosed early. However, identifying them is not at all easy, as the first symptoms are often similar to those of other childhood diseases and viruses,” he said.
