Explanations from DIPA for the vote in Annita -

Explanations for the attitude taken by the deputies of DIPA, who supported in the second voting process, together with DISY and ELAM Annita Dimitriou, the party gives in an announcement.

Indicatively states:

Yesterday we had an opportunity to demonstrate in practice and decisively the national unity that the country needs to emerge from the multifaceted, multi-layered and unprecedented crisis that it is going through, as well as to face the growing threats of Turkey.
Unfortunately, this opportunity was missed.

The opportunity to create the conditions for a creative dialogue and broad social consensus has been lost, in order to quickly seek the safest way out of the crisis and to ensure the political stability that will allow the immediate launch of a comprehensive and effective plan for bold reforms and society and the economy in view of its great post-pandemic challenges.

Our proposal, the paternity of which we do not claim to the fullest extent, was made with the sole purpose of sending the message to society that we have heard it and that we are taking a first, at least a step towards leaving the impasses of the past and focusing on building it. Cyprus of the 21st century.

Almost all political parties were in one way or another aware of this proposal.

Unfortunately, at last some people had other thoughts.

As far as we are concerned, we took responsibility and proposed to the people, as we had promised in the run-up to the elections, a proposal based on national reconciliation and social consensus.

In the same way we will continue to govern.
It is now paramount to serve the priorities imposed by addressing the dangers that threaten our homeland and the challenges that concern the future of our people.
For us, an immediate priority is the collective implementation of a hopeful vision that will allow our country to leave behind the pathogenesis of the past, which cost so much to the institutions and the dignity of the citizens and the image of Cyprus abroad, but also to the promotion of necessary reforms imposed by the new times.

On this occasion, we would like to congratulate the new Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ms. Annita Dimitriou. We wish her good luck in the difficult task she has undertaken.

As a DEMOCRATIC DEPARTMENT we will continue with responsibility, consistency and a high sense of responsibility to be creative and constructive towards the homeland and society.
