Extension of Cypriot incentive plan for aviation

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that the European Commission has approved the extension of the implementation of the Incentive Plan to Airlines to address the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic by the end of June 2021.

The purpose of the project is to restore the connectivity of Cyprus with Europe and the rest of the world and to support the economy of Cyprus.

The plan was implemented from July 1, 2020 and to the extent that the pandemic allowed it was accepted and was utilized by all airlines that offer flights that connect Cyprus with the rest of the world.

The total cost of the project is estimated at 6.3 million euros by the end of June 2021, is fully funded by the Republic of Cyprus, and is expected to be utilized by airlines, meeting the principles of legality, transparency and equal treatment. The amount of the grant will be granted based on the occupancy rate of the aircraft.
