Extension until February 11 for the offers of the Larnaca - Dhekelia road

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works extended the deadline for the submission of bids for the renovation of the third phase of the Larnaca-Dhekelia road until February 11.

Information from KYPE from the Ministry of Transport states that the extension was given until February 11, 2022 for the submission of bids for the relevant tender, because the companies that intended to submit bids requested some clarifications for the project, while there were other problems.

Specifically, the extension to the date of submission of bids was given at the request of the interested economic operators, due to problems they had in securing prices from foreign suppliers and due to covid cases to their staff and suppliers.

The tender opened on October 27, 2021 and had an initial deadline for submission of bids on January 14, 2022, however due to the clarifications requested by the companies, the Ministry extended it until February 11, 2022.

It is noted that the tender concerns the improvement of the Larnaca – Dhekelia coastal road, Phase DG, from the existing roundabout near the Larnaca Nautical Club to the junction leading to Pyla. Specifically, the main road network, 3,250 km long, will be upgraded with four lanes (two in each direction), a built-in central dividing island, paved sidewalks, bicycle lanes, green lanes, green areas, control panels, photo control buses, parking lots, four level roundabouts.

The project includes a 4.5 km long secondary road network, and among other things, large transverse rectangular rain gutters will be constructed, exit / landscaping works will be carried out and disposed of at sea, landscaping works will be done, green areas and roundabouts will be constructed, stormwater drainage network.

There will also be works for the construction of grease traps, works for the construction of a new irrigation network, a new water supply network, a new recycled water network, underground works for the electricity and telecommunications network, infrastructure construction works for a new 132KV transmission network and modern installation works.

It is reminded that with the announcement of the relevant tender, the works would start in the middle of this year.
