Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will appeal a court ruling that sentenced him today to three years in prison – one year without suspension – on charges of corruption and illegal influence, his lawyer Jacqueline Lafont said.
Following the announcement of this “extremely harsh” and “completely unfounded and unjustified” decision, Sarkozy is “calm but also determined to continue” to prove his innocence, the lawyer said in an interview with BFM.
