    Who will be invited to attend the session

    The Parliamentary Assembly is holding an extraordinary session on Friday Transportation Committee in the presence of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Alexis Vafeadis, after the Government's decision to terminate the contract with the contracting company (Kition Ocean Holdings) for the project single development of the port and marina of Larnaca.

    In addition to the Minister of Transport, the Auditor General Odysseas Michaelidis, the Director General of the Ministry of Transport Antonis Koutsoullis and the Director General of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism Kostas Konstantinou and representatives of Kition Ocean Holdings Ltd. were invited to attend the Committee meeting.

    Also, representatives of the General Accounting Office and the Legal Service of the Republic, the Mayor of Larnaca, the Director General of the Cyprus Ports Authority, the President of the EBE Larnaca, representatives of the trade unions Pangyprian Labor Federation (PEO), Confederation of Cyprus Workers ( SEC), Democratic Labor Federation of Cyprus (DEOK).

    As stated by the Minister of Transport, “Kition's continued refusal by their actions to renew this warranty has led us to the decision to immediately terminate the contract.”

    “Our action effectively activates a process , with which the port and the marina, this single development, returns to the management of the state”, he added.

    Also, Mr. Vafeadis in his statement to the KYPE said that there is interest and from Qatar and from other countries and investment funds, for the development of the port and marina of Larnaca, noting that he will present a timetable to the President of the Republic for the day after and the meeting on Friday with the local community of the city.< /p>

    Furthermore, in his statements, the President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulidis assured that “the development of the port of Larnaca will take place as normal”.

    “We are proceeding immediately with what needs to be done, we will offers, we will find a company that can really respond”, added the President of the Republic.
