The continuation of the coronavirus pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine caused emergencies in the state, amounting to € 102 million, which will be covered through an additional budget. Although the supplementary budgets, according to the law of fiscal consolidation, can not be submitted before June 15 of each year, however, due to the special circumstances that have arisen, yesterday the Ministry of Finance submitted the first supplementary budget to the Parliament. Something he has been doing for the last two years, due to the coronavirus.

< p>In particular, additional appropriations of € 30.6 million will cover the emergencies caused by the war in Ukraine. Among other things, € 18 million is expected to be allocated for the purchase of cereals (barley and corn) and for their management for one year, in order to maintain a reserve for animal feed for an additional period of 30 days due to the impact from the Ukrainian. In addition, an additional € 5 million will be used to host and support Ukrainian refugees in general. Also, funds of € 7.6 million will be allocated to address the effects caused by the excessive increase in feed and commodity prices. From the amount of € 7.6 million, funds of € 5 million will be allocated for support of sheep and goat farmers, € 1.2 million for support of cow breeders, € 1.26 million for support of pig farmers, while € 150 thousand will cover the storage of pork .
€ 71.5 million for pandemic
In connection with the continuation of the pandemic, the Council of Ministers took decisions for which additional credits will be required € 71.5 million. Funds € 53 million will be allocated for measures concerning the Ministry of Health, € 700 thousand will cover the needs & nbsp; resulting from the implementation of measures at airports, while the amount of € 520 thousand relates to sponsorship of school ephorates for the disinfection of school premises, due to the detection of positive cases and the use of reusable rooms in which rapid antigen detection tests are performed, functional costs and electricity consumption. According to the budget, funds of € 570 thousand concern the purchase of services of the public tele-service center for the provision of information concerning covid and € 890 thousand will be paid as compensation to the cheesemakers, due to the restrictive measures imposed in the catering sector in Cyprus. and abroad, due to the pandemic and affected the consumption of cheese products. In addition, € 5.7 million will be allocated to support airlines and € 10 million for other emergency expenditure. The balance of the budget balance amounts to 0.4% of GDP.
