The “Ammochostos – For Cyprus” Initiative calls on the Attorney General to "finally implement the anti-racist law on hate speech and discrimination (Criminal Code CAP. 154/99A)" in relation to the reports of MP Andreas Themistokleous, but also the parliamentary parties "to exert pressure for this purpose".
"We are forced once again to react to what was heard today in the Parliament from the mouth of a gentleman who insults both the institution of the parliamentarian and our democracy itself”, says the Initiative in a statement, which refers, among other things, to "racist and homophobic delusions" of Mr. Themistokleous from the floor of the plenary session during the debate on the obligation of sex education.
The Initiative also calls on "every democratic politician to refuse any compromise" with Mr. Themistokleous and adds that "differing opinions are food for democracy, but hate speech is poison that eats its flesh".
