More than 4,000 items of clothing, bags, sunglasses and watches, believed to be counterfeit items of various brands, were confiscated by the Police and the Customs Department, following a coordinated search operation in stores in the province of Famagusta.
1,127 imitations of clothing, bags, belts and hats were confiscated from a clothing store in Ayia Napa, while 1,789 imitations of clothing, bags, belts and hats were confiscated from a souvenir shop, also in Ayia Napa. In another souvenir shop, in Protaras, 1,294 imitations of clothing, watches, bags, sunglasses and hats were found and confiscated.
A search was also conducted at a fourth general food and beverage store in Ayia Napa, where no illegal products were found, but members of the Police and the Customs Department found a double-barreled shotgun, disassembled and in a holster on the floor. . The shotgun was picked up by members of the Police and transported to the Ayia Napa Police Station, where it was found that the gun belonged to the family of owners of the store.
The Ayia Napa Police Station is investigating the case of unsafe storage of the weapon and its transport to the store.
