Antonis Antoniou, 35, from Nicosia, lost his life in a road collision that occurred at around 5.45 this morning on Spyros Kyprianou Avenue in Nicosia (bypass of Tseri).
Specifically, according to the Police, a car driven by a 46-year-old man on the above road, under conditions being investigated by the Police, dragged and seriously injured the unfortunate Antoniou, who was in front of the vehicle with his bicycle.
The 35-year-old cyclist was transported by ambulance to the Nicosia General Hospital where the doctors on duty confirmed his death. Note that the cyclist wore a protective helmet.
The 46-year-old driver of the car underwent a breathalyzer test with zero indication. He was subsequently arrested on a warrant and remanded in custody to facilitate investigations.
