The Committee of the Independent Social Support Agency informs the public that this year's submission of applications for financial sponsorship has begun today, October 28, 2023.
The application should be submitted electronically, ONLY through the Agency's website https://socialsupport.gov.cy.
The applicant must be a student and the application must be accompanied of ALL the necessary certificates. Financial aid is for university tuition or student rent.
Payments for approved students are made directly to University Institutions (for tuition) or directly to property owners (for rent).
It is recalled that in a press conference, the President of the Independent Social Support Agency, First Lady, Filippa Karsera-Christodoulidis, announced, among other things, that for the new academic year 2023-2024 a new category of children will be introduced, who will be given scholarships, without their families are income tested. Now a lump sum will be given depending on whether they also receive scholarships from other institutions. The groups that will be excluded from the criteria are the following:
-Orphaned children from two parents
-Children of the victims of the explosion in Mari in 2011 and while on public duty

-Children of the imprisoned
-Children who until they reached adulthood were under the guardianship of the Director of Social Welfare Services
-For single parents with four or more children

-For large families with five or more dependent children
The goal for 2023-2024 is to raise more than two million euros to help more than 1,300 students, three times the number of scholarships were given in the past.
