A student was killed after being shot by a bullet in the high school of North Carolina where he was studying, the police of the American state announced, clarifying that they arrested a suspect.
Winston-Salem city police sent members to Mount Tabor High School at noon, its leader, Katrina Thompson, told a news conference.
The order enforcement forces found in the school student injured by a globe, which was held in hospital. There he “succumbed to his injuries,” the police chief said with tears in his eyes. He did not specify the age of the victim.
A suspect, a classmate of the young man, was arrested hours later.
After a year spent mainly in distance learning, the return of students to school this week in the US brings to the forefront the concern about violent incidents with the use of firearms in educational institutions, a real scourge for American society.
Indicative of the continuing danger is the fact that this is the second incident of gun use in a high school in North Carolina since the beginning of the week.
Tragedies of this kind are extensively covered by local media, but now rarely occupy the headlines or headlines of the American national media. Although the bloodbath in Parkland, Florida, in February 2018 (17 dead), continues to cause shock even today.
