The Government is looking for five Directors General of Ministries and Undersecretaries. These are two vacancies and three vacancies which will be vacated within 2022. The positions of General Managers concern the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Tourism, Shipping and Social Welfare and the General Directorate of Environment. At the moment, two vacancies are emerging as in this year's budget a total of 15 approved positions are foreseen, while today 13 persons serve as General Managers.
According to data sent to the Parliament in the state budget of 2022, an intention was created for the position of general director for the needs of the General Directorate of Environment in the Ministry of Agriculture. Also in the second supplementary budget of 2021, an additional position of General Director was created in the Ministry of Social Welfare.
In the meantime, three more positions are expected to be created within the year due to the retirement of the current General Managers. Based on the same data, the General Director of the Ministry of Education, Kypros Kyprianou, is retiring on February 1st, while since last September he has been on pre-service leave. Also, the General Director of the Undersecretary of Tourism, Theofanis Tryfonos, is retiring on August 1st and until March 2022 he will be on pre-service leave. The General Director of the Ministry of Transport, Stavros Michael, is retiring in October this year, however, the Council of Ministers decided to remain in public service for another four months, until June 2022. Mr. Michael is expected to be on pre-service leave from May 24. .
Next Monday, the members of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance are expected to consider the Government's request for the thawing of the five positions of General Directors as well as 19 positions in other ministries and services. These are seven positions of first appointment and promotion in the Ministry of Research, which concern three positions of director of scale A15 and four positions of senior research officer of scale A13. The remaining positions are for a senior technician at the Department of Road Transport, a technician at the Department of Antiquities, an archaeologist, a senior stenographer at the Judicial Service, an auditor and two audit directors at the Audit Office, four attorney general posts. at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a position of senior quality assurance officer at the Ministry of Tourism.
