The Minister of the Interior, Nikos Nouris, announced the decisions of the Council of Ministers regarding the floods.
Mr. Nouris said that a first estimate has been made of the amount of damage, but because there are specific procedures and because many objections have been submitted which are not of the same importance, the Ministers of State have asked you to come back to the next session of the Cabinet with a detailed record and a specific proposal, especially as regards the first homes, there will always be compensation based on specific criteria .
He also noted that responsibilities will be sought for bad urban planning and some are already underway and emphasized that this phenomenon had been occurring for decades.
The total cost of the damages, a first estimate speaks of around 150 thousand in Larnaca, 30 thousand in Dromolaxia and there is still no estimate for Famagusta.
