The presence of just a few countries along with the European Commission proves how Cyprus' active diplomatic footprint is now recognized, they said, noting that the Republic of Cyprus was in favor of a strategic EU relationship with Egypt because the interests, challenges, and opportunities are common.

President Christodoulidis traveled to Cairo to participate in a meeting between European leaders and the President of Egypt, in the context of the EU-Egypt Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership during which a Joint Declaration was signed between the EU and Egypt.
