Another four people died of COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 416. According to the Ministry of Health, 655 (positivity rate: 0.96%) new cases of COVID-19 were detected by molecular tests ( PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 100,784. Also, 283 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 83 are in serious condition. 88.3% of patients do not have a history of vaccination. A total of 68,230 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test method.
The current results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19 disease:
The four people who died with the ultimate cause of death attributed to COVID-19 are:
- A 66-year-old woman who ended up at Larnaca General Hospital yesterday.
- A 60-year-old man who ended up yesterday in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.
- A 89-year-old woman who ended up at the Limassol General Hospital yesterday.
- A 70-year-old man who ended up today in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 416, of which:
- 272 men (65%), and
- 144 women (35%).
The average age of those who die from the disease is 77.2 years.
B. Patients:
In total, 283 patients with COVID-19 are treated in OKYPY hospitals, of which 83 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 83 patients in serious condition, 39 are intubated, two are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 42 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive cases COVID -19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 68,230 diagnoses made today, 7,425 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 60,805 by the antigen rapid test, 655 cases of COVID-19 were identified, which resulted as follows:
- 66 cases from 500 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 8 cases from 2,801 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 119 cases from 3,847 samples taken through private initiative.
- 13 cases from 197 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1 case from 80 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
- 28 cases from 1,834 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 420 cases from 58,971 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method.
