DISY and EPP MEP Loukas Fourlas lodged a complaint with the European Commission, stressing that while Ankara and the pseudo-state are blaming the Republic of Cyprus for not finding a solution to the Cyprus problem, they are not stopping their illegal and provocative actions.
“This time, they turned the Church of the Apostle Luke in occupied Lapithos into a dance school, desecrating our religion and the history of the place. “Such actions undermine and sabotage any efforts made to build trust in order to resolve the Cyprus problem,” he said.
Mr. Fourlas points out that musical instruments and tables have been placed in the Church for teaching, as well as flags of Turkey and the pseudo-state. In addition, photos of Kemal Ataturk and event equipment have been placed inside the shrine.
“It is clear that in this school there is also a political catechism of the children who attend classes, without showing a trace of respect for the religious nature of the building”, he emphasizes.
Mr. Fourlas raised the issue with the European Commission, asking what measures he can take to prevent such phenomena, which are frequent and recurring without any impact.
